About Our Farm

Cedar Valley Stables is home for 26 horses of all breeds, many fun loving barn cats, and three beautiful Welsh Corgis named Knicki, Tucker, and Geoffrey. We are a family owned and operated equestrian facility where horse and rider can enjoy themselves in a relaxed atmosphere that is both safe and fun. Horses are a big part of our lives here at Cedar Valley.  We strive to build a strong relationship with our equine friends, as well as the human variety! Cedar Valley is nestled in a valley with over 25 beautiful acres in Lancaster County PA.

The Schnader Family: We are Matthew, Robin, daughter Holly, and son Drew. We own and operate Cedar Valley Stables. We have enjoyed horses all of our lives and are devoted to the proper care and treatment of these wonderful animals here on our farm. Our boarders are the bridge that brings us together in fellowship, stewardship, and a common love for one of God's most majestic creatures... THE HORSE.

The Story of Cedar Valley Stables: Cedar Valley began with a 20 foot section of leftover stone wall from an old bankbarn, a cement block milkhouse, and an idea. Matthew, his father Bobby, and many local menonnite friends found, dissassembled and moved a barn from Berks County, PA to the farm placing it on a new sandstone foundation. The finished barn contained 12 stalls and a tack locker for each boarder. As time passed, Robin felt a longing to become a stay at home mom wishing to work more closely with our children and her horses. So we couragiously undertook the task of enlarging our barn. We began in the fall of 1996 completing the project in 1997. A local Amish construction firm added 10 more stalls, a lounge, wash stall, and 10 more tack lockers. Whew!  We now have 22 horses in the main barn, a small Arabian barn that is home for 4, two nice run-in sheds with 4 others.... and just as many friends that enjoy working with and being around horse. We ride, show, picnic, trailer out, eat out and generally share good times together. What more could a person ask for!

Family Interests: Matthew manages a mutual insurance company during the day and spends evening catching up on farm chores. He is CubMaster for the area scouts, active in Blue Lodge and loves helping others. Robin is active in the childrens schools as a parent volunteer at Brecknock Elementary and Garden Spot High School. Robin also teaches riding lessons her at the farm and is Certified through the CHA Horsemanship Association. She and daughter Holly and son Drew are very active with the Arabian Horse Association, Pennsylvania Arabian Horse Association, US Equestrian Federation, and the US Dressage Federation.  Holly and Drew are very active in showing their Arabian horses in the "A" circuit shows for the Arabian Horse Association.
